The difference between Percentile and Septile

When used as nouns, percentile means any of the ninety-nine points that divide an ordered distribution into one hundred parts, each containing one per cent of the population, whereas septile means any of the quantiles that divide an ordered sample population into seven equally numerous subsets.


Septile is also adjective with the meaning: relating to a septum.
