The difference between Percentile and Tercile

When used as nouns, percentile means any of the ninety-nine points that divide an ordered distribution into one hundred parts, each containing one per cent of the population, whereas tercile means either of the two points that divide an ordered distribution into three parts, each containing a third of the population.
