The difference between Cisgender and Intersex

When used as nouns, cisgender means a cisgender person, whereas intersex means any of a variety of conditions (in a dioecious species) whereby an individual has male and female sex characteristics.

When used as adjectives, cisgender means having a gender (identity) which matches the sex one was assigned at birth, whereas intersex means having characteristics of both male and female sexes.


Intersex is also verb with the meaning: to make intersex.
