The difference between Boat and Canoe

When used as nouns, boat means a craft used for transportation of goods, fishing, racing, recreational cruising, or military use on or in the water, propelled by oars or outboard motor or inboard motor or by wind, whereas canoe means a small long and narrow boat, propelled by one or more people (depending on the size of canoe), using single-bladed paddles. the paddlers face in the direction of travel, in either a seated position, or kneeling on the bottom of the boat. canoes are open on top, and pointed at both ends.

When used as verbs, boat means to travel by boat, whereas canoe means to ride or paddle a canoe.
