The difference between Decimal and Octal
When used as nouns, decimal means a number expressed in the base-ten system, a fractional numeral written in this system, whereas octal means the number system that uses the eight digits 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.
When used as adjectives, decimal means concerning numbers expressed in decimal or mathematical calculations performed using decimal, whereas octal means concerning numbers expressed in octal or mathematical calculations performed using octal.
Decimal is also verb with the meaning: to represent with numbers after a decimal point.
