The difference between Main and Subordinate

When used as nouns, main means that which is chief or principal, whereas subordinate means one who is subordinate.

When used as adjectives, main means of chief or leading importance, whereas subordinate means placed in a lower class, rank, or position.


Main is also adverb with the meaning: exceedingly, extremely, greatly, mightily, very, very much.

Subordinate is also verb with the meaning: to make subservient.
