The difference between Independent and Subordinate
When used as nouns, independent means a candidate or voter not affiliated with any political party, a freethinker, free of a party platform, whereas subordinate means one who is subordinate.
When used as adjectives, independent means not dependent, whereas subordinate means placed in a lower class, rank, or position.
Subordinate is also verb with the meaning: to make subservient.
