The difference between Coffer and Safe

When used as nouns, coffer means a strongbox: a strong chest or box used for keeping money or valuables safe, whereas safe means a box, usually made of metal, in which valuables can be locked for safekeeping.

When used as verbs, coffer means to put money or valuables in a coffer, whereas safe means to make something safe.
