The difference between Root and Zero

When used as nouns, root means the part of a plant, generally underground, that anchors and supports the plant body, absorbs and stores water and nutrients, and in some plants is able to perform vegetative reproduction, whereas zero means the numeric symbol that represents the cardinal number zero.

When used as verbs, root means to fix the root, whereas zero means to set a measuring instrument to zero.
