The difference between Nadir and Zero

When used as nouns, nadir means the point of the celestial sphere, directly opposite the zenith, whereas zero means the numeric symbol that represents the cardinal number zero.

When used as verbs, nadir means to extend (a beehive) by adding an empty box at the base, whereas zero means to set a measuring instrument to zero.
