The difference between Part and Piece

When used as nouns, part means a fraction of a whole, whereas piece means a part of a larger whole, usually in such a form that it is able to be separated from other parts.

When used as verbs, part means to leave someone's company, whereas piece means }} to assemble (something real or figurative).


Part is also adverb with the meaning: partly.

    A portion; a component. A fraction of a whole. A distinct element of something larger. A group inside a larger group. Share, especially of a profit.
