The difference between Outlying and Remote

When used as adjectives, outlying means relatively remote from some central location, whereas remote means at a distance.


Outlying is also noun with the meaning: a region relatively remote from a central location.

Remote is also verb with the meaning: to connect to a computer from a remote location.
