The difference between Exaggerate and Overstate
When used as verbs, exaggerate means to overstate, to describe more than is fact, whereas overstate means to exaggerate.

Exaggerate as a verb:
To overstate, to describe more than is fact.
Examples:

To exaggerate; to state or claim too much.
Examples:
