The difference between Abase and Uplift

When used as verbs, abase means to lower, as in condition in life, office, rank, etc., so as to cause pain or hurt feelings, whereas uplift means to raise something or someone to a higher physical, social, moral, intellectual, spiritual or emotional level.


Uplift is also noun with the meaning: the act or result of being uplifted.
