The difference between Rapier and Sword
When used as nouns, rapier means a slender, straight, sharply pointed sword (double-edged, single-edged or edgeless), whereas sword means a long-bladed weapon with a hilt, and usually a pommel and cross-guard, which is designed to stab, slash, and/or hack.
Rapier is also adjective with the meaning: extremely sharp.
