The difference between Perch and Zander

When used as nouns, perch means any of the three species of spiny-finned freshwater fish in the genus perca, whereas zander means a european freshwater fish in the family percidae, closely related to the perch, sander lucioperca.


Perch is also verb with the meaning: to rest on (or as if on) a perch.
