The difference between Niece and Sister

When used as nouns, niece means a daughter of one's sibling, brother-in-law, or sister-in-law, whereas sister means a daughter of the same parents as another person.


Sister is also verb with the meaning: to strengthen (a supporting beam) by fastening a second beam alongside it.
