The difference between Nun and Sister

When used as nouns, nun means a member of a christian religious community of women who live by certain vows and usually wear a habit, those living together in a cloister, whereas sister means a daughter of the same parents as another person.


Sister is also verb with the meaning: to strengthen (a supporting beam) by fastening a second beam alongside it.
