The difference between Maiden and Virgin

When used as nouns, maiden means a girl or an unmarried young woman, whereas virgin means a person who has never had sexual intercourse, or sometimes, one who has never engaged in any sexual activity at all.

When used as adjectives, maiden means virgin, whereas virgin means in a state of virginity.
