The difference between Increase and Plunge

When used as nouns, increase means an amount by which a quantity is increased, whereas plunge means the act of plunging or submerging.

When used as verbs, increase means (of a quantity, etc.) to become larger or greater, whereas plunge means to thrust into water, or into any substance that is penetrable.
