The difference between East and North
When used as nouns, east means one of the four principal compass points, specifically 90, conventionally directed to the right on maps, whereas north means one of the four major compass points, specifically 0, directed toward the north pole, and conventionally upwards on a map, abbreviated as n.
When used as adverbs, east means towards the east, whereas north means toward the north.
When used as adjectives, east means situated or lying in or towards the east, whereas north means of or pertaining to the north.
North is also verb with the meaning: to turn or move toward the north.
