The difference between East and Western

When used as nouns, east means one of the four principal compass points, specifically 90, conventionally directed to the right on maps, whereas western means a film, or some other dramatic work, set in, the historic american west (west of the mississippi river) typically focusing on a cowboys vs. indians conflict (real or imaginary).

When used as adjectives, east means situated or lying in or towards the east, whereas western means of, facing, situated in, or related to the west.

East is also adverb with the meaning: towards the east.
