The difference between Debuff and Status ailment
When used as nouns, debuff means an effect that makes a game character weaker, whereas status ailment means a negative status effect that adversely affects the afflicted character (such as being poisoned or blinded).
Debuff is also verb with the meaning: to make a character or unit weaker.
