The difference between Cipher and Numeral

When used as nouns, cipher means a numeric character, whereas numeral means a symbol that is not a word and represents a number, such as the arabic numerals 1, 2, 3 and the roman numerals i, v, x, l.


Cipher is also verb with the meaning: to calculate.

Numeral is also adjective with the meaning: of or relating to numbers.
