The difference between They and You
When used as determiners, they means the, those, whereas you means the individual or group spoken or written to.
When used as pronouns, they means a group of people, animals, plants or objects previously mentioned, whereas you means the people spoken, or written to, as an object.
You is also verb with the meaning: to address (a person) using the pronoun you, rather than thou, especially historically when you was more formal.
