The difference between Superfluous and Supernumerary
When used as adjectives, superfluous means in excess of what is required or sufficient, whereas supernumerary means greater in number than.
Supernumerary is also noun with the meaning: a person who works in a group, association, or public office without forming part of the regular staff (the numerary).
