The difference between Stunt double and Understudy
When used as nouns, stunt double means a type of body double: a skilled stand-in used for dangerous film or video sequences such as jumping out of a building, leaping from vehicle to vehicle, and fight sequences, whereas understudy means a performer who understudies.
Understudy is also verb with the meaning: to study or know a role to such an extent as to be able to replace the normal performer when required.
