The difference between Rescue and Save

When used as nouns, rescue means an act or episode of rescuing, saving, whereas save means in various sports, a block that prevents an opponent from scoring.

When used as verbs, rescue means to save from any violence, danger or evil, whereas save means to help (somebody) to survive, or rescue (somebody or something) from harm.


Save is also conjunction with the meaning: unless.
