The difference between Moderate and Temperate

When used as verbs, moderate means to reduce the excessiveness of (something), whereas temperate means to render temperate.

When used as adjectives, moderate means not excessive, whereas temperate means moderate.


Moderate is also noun with the meaning: one who holds an intermediate position between extremes, as in politics.
