The difference between Arbitrate and Moderate

When used as verbs, arbitrate means to make a judgment (on a dispute) as an arbitrator or arbiter, whereas moderate means to reduce the excessiveness of (something).


Moderate is also noun with the meaning: one who holds an intermediate position between extremes, as in politics.

Moderate is also adjective with the meaning: not excessive.
