The difference between Fetid and Smelly

When used as nouns, fetid means the foul-smelling asafoetida plant, or its extracts, whereas smelly means a short magazine lee enfield rifle or one of its derivatives.

When used as adjectives, fetid means foul-smelling, stinking, whereas smelly means having a bad smell.
