The difference between Eradicate and Root up

When used as verbs, eradicate means to pull up by the roots, whereas root up means to dig or pull up by the roots.

  1. Eradicate as a verb (transitive):

    To pull up by the roots; to uproot.

  2. Eradicate as a verb (transitive):

    To destroy completely; to reduce to nothing radically; to put an end to; to extirpate.

    Examples:

  1. Root up as a verb:

    To dig or pull up by the roots; to deracinate.
