The difference between Dye and Tint
When used as nouns, dye means a colourant, especially one that has an affinity to the substrate to which it is applied, whereas tint means a slight coloring.
When used as verbs, dye means to colour with dye, or as if with dye, whereas tint means  .
Tint is also contraction with the meaning: it is not.
