The difference between Discrete component and Integrated circuit
When used as nouns, discrete component means a component with just one circuit element, either passive (resistor, capacitor, inductor) or active (transistor or vacuum tube), whereas integrated circuit means a thin chip, usually of silicon, consisting of at least two interconnected semiconductor devices, mainly transistors.
