The difference between Disconnect and Separate

When used as nouns, disconnect means a break or interruption in an existing connection, continuum, or process, whereas separate means anything that is sold by itself, especially an article of clothing.

When used as verbs, disconnect means to sever or interrupt a connection, whereas separate means to divide (a thing) into separate parts.


Separate is also adjective with the meaning: apart from (the rest).
