The difference between Crest and Snood

When used as nouns, crest means a tuft, or other natural ornament, growing on an animal's head, for example the comb of a cockerel, the swelling on the head of a snake, the lengthened feathers of the crown or nape of bird, etc, whereas snood means a band or ribbon for keeping the hair in place, including the hair-band formerly worn in scotland and northern england by young unmarried women.
