The difference between Composite number and Number
When used as nouns, composite number means a (nonzero) natural number that is expressible as the product of two (or more) natural numbers other than itself and 1, whereas number means an abstract entity used to describe quantity.
Number is also verb with the meaning: to label (items) with numbers.
