The difference between Citizen and Resident

When used as nouns, citizen means a freeman or burgher: a legally-recognized member of an incorporated city, whereas resident means a person, animal or plant living at a certain location or in a certain area.


Resident is also adjective with the meaning: dwelling, or having an abode, in a place for a continued length of time.
