The difference between Bit and Segment

When used as nouns, bit means a piece of metal placed in a horse's mouth and connected to the reins to direct the animal, whereas segment means a length of some object.

When used as verbs, bit means to put a bridle upon, whereas segment means to divide into segments or sections.
