The difference between Beginning and Initial

When used as nouns, beginning means the act of doing that which begins anything, whereas initial means the first letter of a word or a name.

When used as adjectives, beginning means of or relating to the first portion of some extended thing, whereas initial means chronologically first, early.


Initial is also verb with the meaning: to sign one's initial(s), as an abbreviated signature.
