The difference between Antecedent and Progenitor

When used as nouns, antecedent means any thing that precedes another thing, especially the cause of the second thing, whereas progenitor means a forefather, any of a person's direct ancestors.


Antecedent is also adjective with the meaning: earlier, either in time or in order.
