The difference between Absorb and Steep
When used as verbs, absorb means to include so that it no longer has separate existence, whereas steep means to soak an item (or to be soaked) in liquid in order to gradually add or remove components to or from the item.
Steep is also noun with the meaning: the steep side of a mountain etc.
