The difference between Tip and Tooltip

When used as nouns, tip means the extreme end of something, especially when pointed, whereas tooltip means an element of a graphical user interface in the form of a box of text that appears when a cursor is made to hover over an item.


Tip is also verb with the meaning: to provide with a tip.
