The difference between Tax and Tribute
When used as nouns, tax means money paid to the government other than for transaction-specific goods and services, whereas tribute means an acknowledgment of gratitude, respect or admiration.
When used as verbs, tax means to impose and collect a tax from (a person), whereas tribute means to pay as tribute.
