The difference between Soft water and Water softener
When used as nouns, soft water means water with a low concentration of dissolved minerals, especially calcium, making it easier to lather with soap, whereas water softener means a device which reduces the calcium and magnesium concentration of hard water by passing it through an ion exchange resin.
