The difference between Shout and Yell

When used as nouns, shout means a loud burst of voice or voices, whereas yell means a shout.

When used as verbs, shout means to utter a sudden and loud cry, as in joy, triumph, or exultation, or to attract attention, to animate others, etc, whereas yell means shout.


Yell is also adjective with the meaning: dry.
