The difference between Shop and Workshop

When used as nouns, shop means an establishment that sells goods or services to the public, whereas workshop means a room, especially one which is not particularly large, used for manufacturing or other light industrial work.

When used as verbs, shop means to visit stores or shops to browse or explore merchandise, especially with the intention of buying such merchandise, whereas workshop means to help a playwright revise a draft of (a play) by rehearsing it with actors and critiquing the results.
