The difference between Salient and Trivial

When used as nouns, salient means an outwardly projecting part of a fortification, trench system, or line of defense, whereas trivial means any of the three liberal arts forming the trivium.

When used as adjectives, salient means worthy of note, whereas trivial means ignorable.
