The difference between Rope and String
When used as nouns, rope means thick strings, yarn, monofilaments, metal wires, or strands of other cordage that are twisted together to form a stronger line, whereas string means a long, thin and flexible structure made from threads twisted together.
When used as verbs, rope means to tie (something) with something, whereas string means to put (items) on a string.
