The difference between Punctuation and Symbol
When used as nouns, punctuation means a set of symbols and marks which are used to clarify meaning in text by separating strings of words into clauses, phrases and sentences, whereas symbol means a character or glyph representing an idea, concept or object.
Symbol is also verb with the meaning: to symbolize.
